Alberta’s Critical Worker Benefit is a mess because of Jason Kenney

Front line workers deserve better from Jason Kenney and the UCP are kicking workers when they are down. 

When the federal funding was announced for critical workers, what did Jason Kenney do? Nothing. For seven months, he sat on millions of dollars from Ottawa so he could continue to play politics. 

While workers risked their health. Jason Kenney played games.  

After significant pressure, Kenney has introduced his Critical Worker Benefit. A program that picks winners and losers without any rhyme or reason. A program that leaves thousands of workers ineligible because of its confusing requirements, haphazard program design, and subjective definitions. Some Albertans were disqualified while people they worked beside received the funding. How is that fair?

Alberta workers who are giving their time and energy during this pandemic deserve better than Jason Kenney’s Critical Worker Benefit.
